New Study Investigates Community Radio’s Contribution to Australian Music

A new study has been green-lighted to investigate community radio’s impact on Australian music.

Past research showed that 38% of the five million weekly listeners are searching for unorthodox music they won’t find elsewhere, while 33% tune in to actively support local musicians.

The Australian Research Council (ARC) has allocated $218,000 for the three-year study titled Community Music Radio: Building the Music-Media Ecosystem.

I would be very interested to see what this study/report says about community radio and its impact in the overall music industry in Australia. If you can support your local community radio station then DO IT!

Ukraine wins Eurovision Song Contest, UK comes second

Following a rollercoaster voting section this year, Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday with their song ‘Stefania’. The UK’s Sam Ryder followed in second place with ‘Space Man’, in a dramatic turnaround from last year’s nul points disaster.

This is a great example of European solidarity with its Ukrainian brothers and sisters
