The Rise And Rise Of Virtual Acts

Virtual music acts – complete with cartoon-like identities and huge social media followings – come without the trappings of human fame. No egos. No ill-health. No certainty of death. But what’s the appeal for music consumers and fans? And are they a long-term viable option for the recorded music industry?

I’ve got to be honest with you… I just don’t get it.

I understand doing the live streaming thing from the comfort of your own home and getting others to stay at home and watch you do your thing…

But to eliminate the human being out of the audience/performer equation, I just don’t get it.

Whatever floats your boat I suppose. Maybe I need to do a little bit more research and understand the phenomenon a bit more.
